Plant a Pollinator Garden this Summer!

Summer is a great time to plant monarch habitat! Check out the Monarch Joint Venture Store for your pollinator gardening needs. We carry plants, books, and beautiful habitat signs, and your purchases support our mission to conserve the monarch butterfly migration.

This summer we’re selling milkweed and other native plants in collaboration with native plant nurseries Minnesota Native Landscapes (MNL) and Natural Communities. MNL is offering native plant kits, with a shipping range across the upper Midwest. Natural Communities is offering single-species flats with ten pint-sized containers of milkweed and other native plants, available to ship across the eastern and southern United States.

Once you’ve planted your garden, install a beautiful habitat sign to share why native plants are critical for our pollinators.

If you’re seeking step-by-step guidance on planting and maintaining a beautiful pollinator garden, sign up for our new Gardening for Monarchs and More online course. This course covers the basics of pollinator gardens, explains how to plan a garden, and reviews gardening practices and maintenance, all with monarchs in mind. If you’d like help choosing plants, order a copy of the awesome book 100 Plants to Feed the Monarch.

For even more information on monarch habitat, head to the Monarch Joint Venture Ready to Plant page. There, you’ll find a variety of printable handouts and advice for gardens of all sizes, and our Milkweed and Wildflower Vendor Map. You can also email habitat@monarchjointventure.org to reach our Pollinator Habitat Help Desk, where we can answer questions about planting for monarchs.

Happy planting!
